Position Summary Pond is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with Data Center experience to join our growing team in Bogotá, Colombia . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the design and delivery of mission‑critical mechanical systems for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data centers. This individual will play a key role in developing efficient, resilient, and sustainable cooling and mechanical infrastructure that supports continuous operations in critical environments. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout all phases of project delivery, from planning and conceptual design through construction support, commissioning, and facility turnover. Key Responsibilities Design mechanical systems for data centers and other mission‑critical facilities, including cooling, ventilation, and support infrastructure. Develop mechanical calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents. Design and coordinate HVAC systems including chilled water plants, air‑cooled and water‑cooled systems, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, and associated piping networks. Perform cooling load calculations, airflow analysis, equipment sizing, energy evaluations, and system reliability assessments. Support development of mechanical redundancy strategies including N, N+1, and 2N configurations. Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, structural, civil, architectural, and telecommunications disciplines. Participate in design reviews, quality assurance processes, and technical evaluations. Support construction administration activities including RFIs, submittal reviews, site observations, and issue resolution. Assist with commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), startup activities, and operational readiness planning. Collaborate with clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders throughout project execution. Evaluate emerging cooling technologies and industry best practices to support innovative and sustainable data center solutions. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and industry best practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience , including direct involvement in data center or mission‑critical facility projects . Experience designing HVAC and cooling systems for critical facilities. Knowledge of chilled water systems, direct expansion (DX) systems, cooling towers, pumps, hydronic systems, and air distribution systems. Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, and construction documents. Proficiency with engineering and design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, IESVE, Trace 3D Plus, or similar platforms. Understanding of energy efficiency principles and mechanical system reliability requirements. Strong communication and interdisciplinary coordination skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced project environment. Professional‑level proficiency in English and Spanish preferred. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license, Colombian professional registration, or ability to obtain licensure. Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or large‑scale cloud data center developments. Knowledge of ASHRAE Thermal Guidelines, ASHRAE standards, International Mechanical Code (IMC), International Building Code (IBC), and applicable local regulations. Experience with liquid cooling technologies, high‑density computing environments, and emerging data center cooling solutions. Experience with commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and facility operational readiness programs. Familiarity with BIM/Revit workflows and multidisciplinary coordination processes. Experience working with international clients and globally distributed project teams.
