Responsibilities Serve as the Fire Protection Engineering design lead on projects. This includes making Fire Protection Engineering design decisions on suppression systems, fire alarm systems, mass notification systems, and assisting Architecture with Life Safety design. Performs accurate, legible and well thought out design calculations. Coordinates Fire Protection Engineering design with other disciplines; highlighting design components that will impact the other discipline's design so that the overall design is constructable without conflict. Participates in project kick off meetings and coordination meetings. Works independently with minimal supervision; is self-motivated and has initiative. Performs assigned tasks in accordance with company QC procedures. Communicates with clients as needed and defined by project. Contacts clients and/or contractors as needed on specific jobs. Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work. Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree (BS) from a four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Electronics Engineering. 4+ years related experience and/or training. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations NFPA Certifications are a plus Software/Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet Apps. Revit/AutoCAD/BIM preferred but can be trained. Working Proficiency in English language Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position required the individual to use the computer working at a desk in either an office or cubicle; must be able to talk and hear, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 10 pounds, stand, sit and walk, must have close and color vision, use depth and peripheral vision, be able to adjust focus. Travel Requirements Occasional attendance at meetings and other off-site events requires the ability to provide reliable transportation.
