This is a backend-focused Individual Contributor role where your impact will come from designing and developing reliable backend services, integrating complex third‑party systems, and contributing to modern cloud‑native architectures. While you'll collaborate closely with architects, product teams, and fellow engineers, this is a hands‑on engineering position centered on technical excellence, ownership, and software craftsmanship. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services and RESTful APIs using Python. Build production‑grade backend applications with a strong emphasis on reliability, maintainability, and performance. Write clean, well‑tested, and maintainable code following engineering best practices. Systems Integration Design, build, and maintain integrations with third‑party services and external APIs. Ensure fault tolerance, resilience, and reliability across distributed system integrations. Troubleshoot and optimize backend connectivity with external platforms and services. Security & Authentication Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth and On‑Behalf‑Of (OBO) permission flows. Apply security best practices for API development and web applications. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure secure service‑to‑service communication. Develop and scale GraphQL services, including distributed and federated GraphQL architectures. Contribute to the evolution of GraphQL Federation implementations (WunderGraph experience is a plus). Build, deploy, and maintain cloud‑native backend services on AWS. Participate in architectural discussions and technical design reviews. Take ownership of backend features from design through deployment and ongoing support. Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams while driving engineering excellence and continuous improvement. Must-have Skills 8+ years of professional experience developing backend applications. Advanced English level (B2+/C1) with strong verbal and written communication skills. Technical Expertise Strong production experience with Python . Hands‑on experience with modern Python frameworks such as: FastAPI (preferred) Starlette Flask Experience designing and developing scalable REST APIs and backend services. Strong understanding of software architecture, backend design patterns, and distributed systems. Security & Authentication Experience implementing: OAuth authentication flows Authorization frameworks On‑Behalf‑Of (OBO) permission flows Solid understanding of backend security best practices. Hands‑on experience with AWS services, including: Lambda ECS and/or EKS API Gateway RDS DynamoDB Experience deploying and maintaining cloud‑native applications. GraphQL & Integrations Experience building GraphQL APIs. Experience working with GraphQL Federation or distributed GraphQL architectures. Experience integrating complex third‑party APIs and enterprise systems. Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for backend integrations. Soft Skills Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently deliver high‑quality solutions. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable technical solutions. Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross‑functional environments. Nice‑to‑have AI Tooling Proficiency: Leverage one or more AI tools to optimize and augment day‑to‑day work, including drafting, analysis, research, or process automation. Provide recommendations on effective AI use and identify opportunities to streamline workflows. Experience with WunderGraph. Experience building AI‑enabled applications or integrating Large Language Models (LLMs). Familiarity with Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures and vector databases. Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
