Purpose The Global Fraud Technology team develops and manages innovative products designed to support the ever‑changing threat landscape. We work in close partnership with our Fraud Business and key Technology Partners throughout Scotiabank to drive global technology delivery. We are key team members within Enterprise Technology to ensure business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Accountabilities Design, develop, and maintain modern microservices and technology solutions that support core business and regulatory functions, following best‑practice architectural and coding standards. Analyze business requirements and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to research, design, and document scalable technical solutions aligned with organizational goals. Write, modify, integrate, and test software code to implement new features and ensure compatibility with existing systems. Perform functional, integration, and regression testing for new software releases to validate stability and prevent impacts on the current codebase. Optimize system performance by monitoring services, identifying issues, and implementing fixes to ensure reliability, scalability, and efficiency in production environments. Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve application defects and provide production support as needed to maintain uninterrupted business operations. Implement best practices in code quality, testing, security, logging, and performance optimization. Participate in Agile ceremonies (refinement, sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, reviews, retrospectives) and collaborate closely with developers, QA, analysts, and product teams to deliver high‑quality software. Education / Experience / Other Information Bachelor’s Degree in computer engineering, business, information sciences or other related field. Java developer with 5+ years of experience in requirements analysis, cloud backend & front‑end design, development, implementation, release & deployment and cloud implementation. Knowledge of secure coding for the banking industry and experience using security & vulnerability detection tools (BlackDuck, WebSense, Checkmarx). Experience developing applications in micro‑service architecture with a technology stack of REST, Spring Boot, Docker. Experience or knowledge of the latest JDK and Spring Boot framework. Must have experience working with DevOps, deployment and orchestration technologies (e.g., Bitbucket, Git, Kubernetes/GKE, Jenkins, Maven, TFS). Work with SQL and NoSQL databases for schema design, queries, and performance tuning. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High tolerance for ambiguity; the team constantly experiments with new technologies. Advanced English level. Working Conditions Work in a standard office‑based environment; non‑standard hours and overtime are common to meet deadlines and implement systems. The position requires focused use of sight and touch at a computer terminal for approximately 8 hrs/day and the ability to react quickly to resolve technical problems.
