Associate Director - Transmission & Distribution Full-time Business Group: DCS Legal Entity: AECOM Services SAS Business Line: Building Engineering Work Location Model: On-Site Operating Group: Group Support Primary Location: CO - Bogota, Colombia - Carrera 11 # The Principal Overhead Line (OHL) Engineer provides senior technical leadership and delivery capability across a broad range of transmission line projects from 132kV to 765kV. This includes greenfield projects, asset upgrades, reconductoring, thermal uprating, foundation and structure strengthening, line cut‑ins, and asset renewal schemes. The role involves hands‑on design, technical review, and interdisciplinary collaboration across project stages from concept to construction. Key Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and execute HV transmission line projects. Prepare cost estimates, project budgets, and resource allocation plans. Coordinate with project managers, clients and stakeholders to ensure requirements are met. Lead technical delivery of HV transmission line engineering and design projects/packages. Develop transmission line alignments, profiles, and structure spotting using PLS-CADD. Perform sag‑tension analysis and validate clearances per relevant standards (e.g. EN 50341, NG TS 2.04). Prepare and review design deliverables including plan/profile drawings, stringing charts, structure schedules, and loading reports. Assess tower and pole structure loading and coordinate foundation designs with geotechnical inputs. Engage in reconductoring and sag‑tension recalculations; uprating and clearance studies; structure/pole strength assessments; foundation strengthening; line cut‑ins; tower/pole replacements; OPGW or earthwire reviews. Participate in design reviews, QA/verification, and constructability assessments. Support delivery of construction‑ready drawings and material schedules. Coordinate with drafting, structural, civil, electrical, and geotechnical teams for integrated design outputs. Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement. Discipline‑Specific Responsibilities For civil/structural/mechanical engineers: model towers or poles using PLS‑TOWER or PLS‑POLE; support foundation assessments; prepare and review drawings; assess structural adequacy; contribute to constructability. For electrical engineers: select conductor types; perform insulation coordination; review clearances; conduct shielding angle analysis; perform EMF, induction, and line loss analysis; coordinate termination and bonding with substation teams. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical) with at least 8 years of experience in HV (132kV+) overhead line transmission design and delivery. Chartered or Professional Engineer status (or working toward it) is preferred. Proven experience delivering HV OHL projects: new builds, reconductoring, uprating, asset renewals. Strong coordination across disciplines and high‑quality technical reviews. Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS‑TOWER/PLS‑POLE, Microsoft Excel/Office; knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, TEKLA, MathCAD, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, etc. preferred.
