Carpenter - U.S. Army Fort Jackson EMI Services is hiring a Carpenter . Primary responsibilities include designing, building, remodeling, retrofitting, maintaining and repairing various structures and interior fixtures. The carpenter works with wood, drywall, plaster, concrete, brick, ceramic tile, and paint to create cabinets, tables, benches, doors and other components. The ideal candidate is an experienced handyman who follows all health and safety standards. Salary $23.01 per hour plus $5.09 per hour in fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401(k). Key Responsibilities Work independently with minimal supervision Assess tasks and determine solutions including cost, time, and materials Operate, maintain, and calibrate hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service Perform other related duties as assigned Essential Skills Mechanically inclined with a mindset for alterations and repairs Basic understanding of fascia and trim with fabrication skills Work well in a team to complete tasks Adaptable and flexible in work situations Prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 3+ years of experience in carpentry trades Duty phone Valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID Act or willing to obtain one Pass a pre-employment drug screening Regular, dependable attendance U.S. citizenship for access to military installations Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping Climb ladders and enter confined spaces Lift and adjust heavy objects, contact with sharp, hot, and/or very cold supplies and equipment Work indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (including extremes) and weather conditions *Physical demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job.
