Purpose GBME is searching for a DevOps Specialist to serve as liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within GBME. Accountabilities Perform ad hoc work as needed, partnering with peer engineers and various GBME teams for maintaining and upgrading software components. Work closely with system owners to understand requirements from end‑of‑life and compliance standpoints, conduct gap analyses and requirements assessments as needed. Remediate code vulnerabilities (code or library references), produce actionable and complete specifications, write production‑quality code, and implement solutions. Design test sets and automate tests where possible, including functional, non‑functional, regression and performance testing. Work with and refactor legacy code as required. Participate in daily stand‑ups. Education & Experience Experience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment. 4+ years of practical experience and financial domain knowledge. Keen attention to detail for in‑depth diagnostics and analysis of software behaviors. Minimum 4 years of working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server, with the ability to create and run queries independently. Experience with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java for automating tasks and creating tools to streamline development and deployment. Experience with scripting languages like Bash and Shell for writing automation scripts for system administration tasks. Understanding of Linux fundamentals, including file systems, permissions, package management, and command‑line utilities. Experience managing infrastructure, provisioning, configuring, and maintaining servers and networking components; familiarity with tools such as Ansible and Puppet. Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and standards, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results. Skills in automating IT tasks such as configuration management, application deployment, and orchestration using Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules to streamline operations and integrate with CI/CD pipelines. Proficiency in user management, software installation, and system monitoring. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science, or a related field. Proficiency in using Git to track changes, merge code, and manage code repositories effectively. Excellent working experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Preferred Qualifications Understanding of the Bank’s application systems and software from a business/technical viewpoint to assess the impact of development and/or changes to the overall data processing environment. Experience managing projects that span front, middle, or back‑office systems and teams. Experience with PL/SQL, SQL Loader, UNIX tools, shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python), Java, XML, HTML, and related technologies. Experience with Docker for packaging applications and dependencies into containers.
