Purpose The Global Operations Technology (GOT) team develops and manages innovative products designed to support the ever‑changing threat landscape, working in close partnership with our Corporate Security, Fraud Business, and key Technology Partners throughout Scotiabank. The successful candidate will work closely with the product owner and business analysts to understand the business functions and requirements. The candidate should have excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to review requirements or stories, define and develop test strategies, automation frameworks, and support defect management in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. Accountabilities Champions a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Identify key focus areas for automated regression testing for builds and for new projects. Guide teams in understanding test scripts and providing direction around identifying automation opportunities. Design, review, and update the Test Automation Framework. Ensure proper version control and configuration management of automated tests. Provide accurate estimates for assigned task duration, along with confidence levels and foreseeable dependencies. Assist in preparing test plans, budgets, and schedules where applicable. Design and develop testing accelerators (e.g., stubs, mocks, data fulfillment libraries). Evaluate and implement appropriate tools as needed to drive test automation across IT. Perform code reviews and static analysis to ensure the highest quality of test automation code. Provide testing support during builds after business hours and weekends, as required. Assist with feasibility analysis for automation of new modules on a monthly/project basis across functional, mobile, and SOA decks. Review test strategies, test estimations, test closure reports and associated test documentation and provide feedback to Test Leads as related to technical testing. Assess the results of tests and take appropriate action; work closely with the development group to resolve defects; escalate issues to management when necessary; make recommendations. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk. Education / Experience / Other Information University or College Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline. 5+ years of experience with SDLC and TDLC. 4+ years’ experience in a test automation/developer role. 5+ years of proven experience with manual testing experience and knowledge. Professional Certification Possess certifications around automated testing tools like UFT, Selenium, Cucumber, etc. (Must). Development language certification is an asset. (Must). Ideally possess or be working toward CSTB Foundation‑Level Certification (CTFL) – Negotiable. Ideally possess or be working toward CSTB Advanced Technical Test Analyst (TTA) – Negotiable. Technical Skills Understanding of end‑to‑end project delivery life cycle, SDLC, and TDLC. Knowledge of web technologies i.e., Angular / React. Hands‑on experience using HP UFT, Selenium, Cucumber. Experience using JMeter, SoapUI or similar. Hands‑on experience with mobile testing solutions such as Soasta, Touchtest, Perfecto Mobile, and Smart Bear Test Complete is an asset. Experience working with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project). Working experience in test planning and management tooling such as JIRA, X‑Ray, HP Quality Centre/ALM, or equivalent. Working experience with test automation tooling such as Craft, Selenium, Appium, Node.JS, Protractor, WebDriver.io, Cucumber‑Gherkin, TestNG, Cypress, or equivalent and an understanding of coding structure and best practices. Working experience with automation scripting, the ability to code and debug scripts. Knowledge of web technologies such as SOAP, XML, HTML, and CSS. Knowledge of performance tooling such as Soasta, CloudTest, and Dynatrace is an asset. Experience with bug tracking tools such as Jira, ClearQuest, or HP Application Lifecycle Management. Experience testing with a variety of technologies, including Web, Java, .Net. Working Conditions Work in a standard office‑based environment; non‑standard hours are a common occurrence.
